We identified and discussed what makes a quality child care center and categorized the different qualities the students came up with on a concept map.

We are learning how to resolve family feuds by using the problem solving process. This was an in-class activity, so students will want to review the information in the PowerPoint on the website if they were absent today.

September 1, 2015

Students had their Code of Conduct assembly today during 1st and 2nd, so 6th and 7th period played get-to-know you games.

August 31, 2015

Today, students learned what soft skills are, why they are important and then practiced common soft skills in class. This was an in-class activity, so students who were absent should review the short PowerPoint on the website.

The students took a pre-test for the College and Career Awareness class. If they missed the pre-test, they will need to make it up. We then learned about what a career pathway is and what types of careers fit in what pathways.

Students used their assignment from yesterday to help guide them through an activity called "Reality Check" on UtahFutures.org to show them how much the lifestyle of their dreams may cost them and to show them some possible careers they can have to meet that lifestyle. Students will show these to their parents/guardians at Student-Led Conferences.

Students had their first Career Development activity today on why we have College and Career Awareness programs and classes and how they envision their future. They also had an activity so they could show me and the class how they view their future. We will be using this for our activity tomorrow.

Welcome to the new term and to College and Career Awareness. Today we went through the course description, gave out hall passes and late passes, created a seating chart, and went through where items are in the room, as well as what College and career awareness is and what they will be doing his year.

Welcome to College and Career Awareness at Fort Herriman Middle School. I hope that you have an enjoyable experience this term in class. In order for you to have a good time and learn, you must participate! This means that you need to participate in class discussions, activities and out of class activities which may include blogs, interviews, and a little bit of homework. Have a good time!
