Students watched a video on Kitchen safety while answering some questions based on the video. Afterwards, they had some true and false questions about what things were and were not safe to do in the kitchens.

Students were introduced to the foods lab and where told lab expectations and rules, as well as how labs are run and where different things are the lab. Their first cooking lab is Monday and is the fruit freeze.

Students watched a video titled "Measuring Math" which demonstrated how to measure different ingredients and the importance of measuring correctly. The students will demonstrate what they learned when measuring out ingredients in future cooking labs. There were also two extra credit sheets available to the students on doubling a recipe, measuring abbreviations and equivalents. These can be turned in anytime between now and the end of the term.

Students learned about how recipes are formatted and why. We also covered the importance of reading through a recipe before beginning and collecting all of the ingredients to make sure they have them all. They had an activity called "Read the Recipe" to turn in as they left class.

Students continued to learn about food safety. Today, we discussed ways students can keep their kitchens at home cleaner to help prevent food borne illnesses.

Students started learning about food borne illnesses and food safety. They watched "Food Safety" and answered some questions, which we then went over and graded and discussed afterward. We also discussed food safety when dining out, especially at fast food restaurants and about cross-contamination.

today, students learned about were food, shelter and clothing comes from (raw materials/Agriculture) and what types of resources we use in the world around us.

Students took a quick pre-test to see what they already know as they are coming into the FACS rotation of CTE intro. This will be used to compare to their final test at the end of the term to see what they learned. We then reviewed and played a game about the Rattle traits and what they look like in my room.

Welcome to Family and Consumer Sciences CTE Introduction at Fort Herriman Middle School. I hope that you have an enjoyable experience this term in class. In order for you to have a good time and learn, you must participate! This means that you need to participate in class discussions, activities and out of class activities which may include blogs, interviews, and a little bit of homework. Have a good time!
Today we went through the course description, gave out hall passes and late passes, created a seating chart, and went through where items are in the room as well as what CTE Intro. is.
