Students then started creating a lesson plan to use in a child care center using what they learned in class today.

May 25-26, 2016

Students made Vanishing Breakfast Biscuits to help reinforce our lesson about the importance of reading recipes and cooking with children. Any student who was absent (For ANY reason) must make the lab at home and return the lab make-up form signed by a parent stating that their student did the assignment. We also covered why children play, the way the play and what they learn from it.

Today is the 7th grade Job Shadow Day! Most students were at work "on the job" and have a written assignment to complete while they are gone. These will be due tomorrow. Students who stayed were placed into one of three groups and had different career related activities to complete throughout the first half of the day. These were due at the end of each class period when they were done.

Today, students learned what soft skills are, why they are important and then practiced common soft skills in class. This was an in-class activity, so students who were absent should review the short PowerPoint on the website. We also handed out badges/lanyards and the Job shadow assignment to those students who will be gone tomorrow for their job shadow.

Students were introduced to the career of Food Stylists. We introduced them to the career, show them a couple of video demonstrations of what they do, as well as how to garnish plates. On the 17th, they made french toast and had to style them the best they could before eating their project.

We discussed the changes which have taken place and how students could change their diets to align more closely to the plate, as well as what a correct serving size was. The students completed making a correct MyPlate meal and turned it in for points.
