October 30th
The students were given their final grade and citizenship for 1st term/quarter. They were instructed to go through the printout carefully and then I called them up one at a time to fix any mistakes and finalize their grade. While we were doing that, the students played "Life." I will see every student next term, which starts Monday, for the FACS rotation of CTE Intro. There might be one or two who are changing class periods, but everyone else will stay with me. New class schedules and rotations will be handed out at the end of the semester in January.

The Green SEOP form was due today. They received 50 points if it was completed and signed by a parent or 25 if it was not signed. Students who turn it in late will receive 38 points (75%) if it is turned in by Wednesday. We then went through and finished any pages already started in their record books and crossed out any that we had not started. That way, students will know exactly which ones they will be graded on and expected to complete. The record books will be due on Wednesday and will be graded in class. They are worth 160 points.

All seventh graders went to a CTE assembly in the morning where they learned about some careers from parents of students in the law enforcement and medical career fields. They saw firefighters take apart a car as if it were an emergency situation and learned a little bit about a fire fighters' job. A parent who works for the Bureau of Criminal investigation talked about some of the jobs done within their department (criminal records, training of law enforcement, etc.) Another parent shared with us a video about nursing and the great opportunities and satisfaction that being a nurse has.

October 1st
Welcome to October! The students had an activity today to help them figure out what their values are and how they will effect their choice of careers in the future. They wrote down the definitions to values, preferences and economic security in their record books. We then held a career auction. All students were provided with $2000 each to bid on careers and different lifestyle choices they will have in the future. The students could then bid on what they were interested in. Tomorrow, we will discuss how the money that was spent on these choices shows us what their career preferences and main values are. The students had to keep track of what each auction item sold for in their record book.
