November 30th
Students continued working on their locker pocket organizers. Tuesday will be the last day to work on these during class, except for 1st period. They have an a student recognition assembly during 1st tomorrow for the 7th grade. Students who did not finish can come Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday after school to catch-up/finish.

November 25th

November 24th
Students continued working on their locker pocket organizers. CTE Sewing permits were also due in class today. Students who are behind were told to start coming after school so they can catch-up. Locker Pocket Organizers are due on Tuesday, December 1st.

November 23rd
Students played the "Game of Life," the board game, seeing some of the things that may happen in real life. They answered questions on a sheet about some of the things that happened to them during the game and turned it in at the end of class for points.
November 20th
Students watched a video on how to care for fabrics and fibers titled "Gone with the wash." They also had a few questions they had to answer using the information in the video.
November 19th
Students started learning about food borne illnesses and food safety. They watched "The Great Food Fight" and answered some questions, which we then went over and graded and discussed afterward. We also discussed food safety when cooking at home and focused on cross-contamination.
November 18th
Students learned about some of the new technology being developed for our homes. We read "Life in a very cool lab" which students had to turn in the questions from. Most finished in class, but a few had to take it home for homework. This is due at the first of class tomorrow (Thursday, November 19th).
November 17th
Students watched the teacher demonstration of the locker pocket project. They were then given the rest of the class period to work on their bookmarks and locker pockets.
November 16th
Students learned how to use the rotary cutters, mats and sergers. Afterwards, they had the rest of class to work on their bookmarks. All CTE Sewing Permits are due to me by Tuesday, November 24th at the end of each class period or it will be considered late.

November 13th
Students reviewed how to thread a machine and then started on their bookmarks. Detailed instructions were provided as well as a teacher demonstration. They will continue working on these on Monday. Today was also the last day they could retake the "Parts of the sewing machine" quiz after school. There will be one last quiz retake on Monday morning starting at 7:10 am.

November 12th
Students learned how to wind a bobbin and thread a sewing machine by watching a teacher demonstration and doing it on their machines while I walked them through it. Students were encouraged to help each other along the way. Any student who missed this day is highly encouraged to go to the following site and click on the first video on bobbin winding. November 11th
Students worked on their "Crazy Stitching" today (Stitching on paper). They had to complete three out of the seven papers/patterns they had to chose from. They then had to attach these three papers to their CTE Sewing Permit. Tomorrow, students will learn how to wind a bobbin and thread a machine.

November 10th
We took the parts of the sewing machine quiz and students were given their CTE sewing permits to start working on and filling out. Students who passed the quiz with 8 out of 12 correct or better stapled the quiz to their CTE sewing permit. Students who did not pass can come Tuesday, Thursday or Friday after school this week or Monday morning (7:10) of next week to retake it. They must be in the classroom and ready for the quiz by 2:40.

November 9th
Students learned the parts of the sewing machine and what they are used for. They have to study these parts tonight in preparation for a quiz tomorrow where they will need to be able to identify 8 out of 12 parts of the machine to pass. If they don't pass, they can come after school Tuesday, Thursday or Friday of this week or Monday morning of next week to retake the quiz. These points will count as points on their "Sewing Permit."

November 6th
The students collected their sewing supplies for the upcoming sewing unit and learned about the rules and expectations of their behavior in the sewing lab, as well as how they will be graded and what assignments/projects they will complete during the rest of this unit.

November 5th
Students had a sub today. The watched "Cypher in the Snow" and wrote about someone they know who has been left out and forgotten. They also had to share something about themselves that no own else knows.

November 4th
Students were given a second day in the computer lab to finish their "Fabric Online" web quest paper. These are due at the beginning of class on Thursday (tomorrow), November 5th. Anyone who didn't finish today was told that this is now homework for tonight.

Students researched different fabrics and textiles using a website from ThinkQuest.org titled "Fabric Online". Students were given specific questions to research and find. This assignment is due Thursday at the beginning of their class period and they will have tomorrow to work on this during class as well. November 2nd
Welcome to the new term and to the Family and Consumer Science (FACS) section of CTE Intro. Today we went through the course description, gave out hall passes and late passes, created a seating chart, and went through where items are in the room, as well as what CTE Intro. is. The next two days we will meet in the G208 computer lab to learn about different textiles.
