December 20th
1st and 6th period classes were allowed to finish the video they were watching from the "Families" unit while 3rd period played the game of "Life" as a reward for helping with Sub for Santa during TA time.

December 19th
Students watched a movie about families an the importance of good communication. While watching, students had to identify two instances/examples of good communication and two instances/examples of poor communication. These had to be in written form and turned into the basket by the end of class tomorrow (Thursday) before they leave for the break.

December 18th
Students learned about different negative and positive ways to communicate with family and friends. They wrote these down in their notes. We also discussed the "No-lose, win-win method" of problem solving.

December 14th
FACS CTE students started the "Families" unit today and were placed into groups of four to five. Students had to name their families and assign each member a role in the family. They were also assigned jobs and salaries. Each family then had to create a flag depicting the name of their family and something special or unique to them. They will work in these groups for the next week until the Winter Break.
December 13th
Today was the last day in the sewing lab for students to work on their sewing permits and Locker pocket projects. These should be turned into the basket by the end of class today. Any student who did not finish will need to come after school to finish using the equipment and turn these in. they can stay after school today, tomorrow and Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

December 12th
Students finished working on their locker pockets. Both the locker pocket and the CTE sewing permit were both due into the basket at the end of the school day. These will be graded and returned to students before the Winter Break. Any student who did not finish can come after school for extra help and time using the machines. These cannot be completed at home. They must be completed in the sewing lab under teacher supervision. Today was also the last day students could make-up the Parts of the sewing computer quiz after school.

Students continued working on their Locker Pocket projects today. All projects and sewing permits are due on Wednesday at the end of class. The last two days to make-up their parts of the sewing computer quiz is today after school and tomorrow after school.

Students continued to work on their locker pocket projects and sewing permits today. Both of these will be due on Thursday at the end of the class period. We will be starting the Family unit on Friday.

1st and 7th period classes were shown how to complete their locker pockets for their class project. They read through the instructions and grading rubric and the teacher demonstrated the process of making a locker pocket. They were also given an extra credit option to complete for 5 points to review sewing corners. Students were then given the rest of class time to finish their bookmark and sewing permit, then they could start on their locker pockets.

December 5th
1st and 7th period classes reviewed how to thread a machine, read through and watched a demonstration on the instruction for making bookmarks and spent the rest of class time working on their bookmarks.
3rd and 6th period learned about and practiced using the rotary cutters and mats, as well as the sergers. Students then had the rest of class time to work on their bookmarks.

Students had a sub today. The watched "Cypher in the Snow" and wrote about someone they know who has been left out and forgotten. They also had to share something about themselves that no own else knows.

3rd and 6th period students reviewed threading a sewing machine, went through the directions for making bookmarks and gave students the rest of the time in class to work on these.
1st and 7th period learned how to wind a bobbin and thread a sewing machine, which took all of class time. They will start on their bookmarks tomorrow.
