September 28th
Students learned the differences of individuals and about talents and abilities. They watched a short video called "The Pound Theory" about differences and what makes us unique. Afterwards, they wrote down the definitions of talent, ability and skill in their glossery of terms in the back of their record book. We then surveyed their talents and abitlities on their "I have talents and abilities" page in their record book. We then dicussed how to improve on those talents and abilities which then led us to "The arithmetic of success." An extra credit option was also pressented to the class that students can take home and do with a parent or guardian and return by the end of the term.

September 27th
In class today we watched an "I Love Lucy" epsiode entitled "Job Switching." Students were asked to point out occupations listed, stereotypes and roles from the 50's and skills needed to hold down a job. Afterwards, students compiled a list of occupations we will use in future lessons. Students also turned in their "Discovering Career Interests" webquest paper.

Grades
Students are responsible for getting on PowerSchool on a regular basis to check for missing assignments and their current grade. Citizenship will be adjusted at mid-term and the end of the term, so students also need to watch how many tardies they have and their behavior in class.
September 26th
We went up to the computer lab today to finish our "Discovering Career Interests" Activity on Choices Explorer. This was our third day in the lab working on this assignment. Any student who did not finish must finish it tonight for homework and turn it in tomorrow during class.
September 25th
We passed out grade printouts of their current grades and we spent time today catching up on any missing or absent work the students may have. Afterwards, students were asked to read or finish homework for any other classes they may have had.
Welcome!
Starting today, this blog site will be updated every couple of days or more with information about what we are doing in the Family and Consumer Science portion of CTE intro. Parents and students will be able to look on the site to see what they may have missed when absent and what assignment due dates are coming up. If you or your student needs a copy of an assignment, they need to come to my office in AT 111. Thank you for checking this site!
